Leather Shop Factory (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website leathershopfactory.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

We are based in India, and this policy is written in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

If you have any question about this policy, contact us at contact@leathershopfactory.com.

1. Information we collect

a. Information you give us

  • Name, email address and phone number
  • Billing address and delivery address
  • Order details, including the products purchased and the amount paid
  • Account details if you create an account, including your password in encrypted form

  • Product reviews you choose to publish, including the name you post under

b. Information collected automatically

  • IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser type, device type and operating system
  • Pages you visit, products you view, time spent on the site and the link or advertisement that brought you here
  • Items added to your cart, including carts that are not completed
  • Session recordings and heatmaps, which capture mouse movement, scrolling, clicks and taps on our pages

c. Payment information

We do not collect or store your full card number, UPI PIN or bank credentials. Payments are handled by our payment providers, and card details are entered directly with them. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, along with the last few digits and card type where relevant.

2. How we collect it

  • Directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, sign up for emails, raise a warranty claim, leave a review or contact us
  • Automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you browse the site
  • From our service providers, for example delivery status updates from our courier partner

3. Why we use your information

  • To process and deliver your order, and to keep you updated on its status
  • To take payment and to issue refunds where due
  • To handle warranty claims, repairs, replacements and refunds under our Lifetime Service Warranty
  • To answer your questions and provide customer support
  • To send you marketing emails or messages, where you have agreed to receive them
  • To publish product reviews you have submitted
  • To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it
  • To measure how our advertising performs and to show you relevant advertisements
  • To prevent fraud and to keep the site secure
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations

We may also disclose personal data where we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a government authority, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.

5. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them for the following purposes.

  • Necessary. These keep the site working, remember your cart and keep you signed in. The site cannot function without them.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager tell us how many people visit, which pages they use and where they leave.
  • Session recording. Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move, scroll and click on our pages, and produces heatmaps and playback of visits. We use it to find problems in the buying process. We do not use it to identify individuals.
  • Advertising. Google Ads and the Meta Pixel measure whether our advertising leads to a purchase, and allow us to show ads to people who have visited the site. Meta's Conversions API also sends some of this event data from our server rather than from your browser.
  • Marketing. Klaviyo recognises you so that emails and messages you have agreed to receive are relevant.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, parts of the site, including checkout, will stop working. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, and you can adjust advertising preferences in your Google and Meta account settings.

6. Marketing communications

We send marketing emails and messages only to people who have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. You can also email us and ask to be removed.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop messages that relate to an order you have placed, such as a dispatch notification, a delivery update or a warranty claim update. Those are necessary to complete the service you asked for.

7. How long we keep your information

  • Order and invoice records are kept for seven years, to meet tax and accounting requirements in India.
  • Warranty records are kept for as long as the warranty may be claimed, since our Lifetime Service Warranty has no time limit and a claim depends on us being able to verify the original purchase.
  • Account details are kept until you ask us to close your account.
  • Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics and session recording data are kept for the retention period set within each tool, which is generally between two and thirteen months.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and obtain a summary of it
  • Ask us to correct data that is wrong, incomplete or out of date
  • Ask us to erase your personal data, where we are not required to keep it
  • Withdraw a consent you previously gave, at any time
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to
  • Raise a grievance with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied with our response

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@leathershopfactory.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, so that we do not disclose your data to someone else. We will respond within a reasonable period, and in any case within the time required by law.

Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did lawfully before you withdrew it, and it does not remove records we must keep for tax, accounting or warranty purposes.

9. Grievance Officer

If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal data, please contact our Grievance Officer:

  • Name: Mubassir Khan
  • Email: contact@leathershopfactory.com
  • Phone: 9217218098
  • Address: Leather Shop Factory, Opposite C1/76, Near Ram Mandir, Block C, Ardee City, Sector 52, Gurugram, Haryana 122003

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Security

Our store runs on Shopify, and all pages are served over an encrypted connection. Payment details are handled by our payment providers and are not stored on our systems. We limit access to personal data to the people who need it to do their work.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

11. Children

Our store is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data of anyone under 18 years of age without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Transfers outside India

Some of our service providers, including Shopify, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Klaviyo and Judge.me, process data on servers located outside India. Where that happens, we rely on the contractual protections those providers offer, and we transfer data only to countries not restricted by the Government of India.

13. Links to other websites

Our site and our social media pages may link to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we recommend you read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Where a change is significant, we will bring it to your attention on the site or by email.
